Happy National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand!
December 5th is the National Day of Thailand, which commemorates the birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, the late King Rama IX and father of the current King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Wachiraklaochaoyuhua.
His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great ruled the state until 2016. He is deeply loved by the Thai people who respect him as the father of the nation, which is why December 5th is also celebrated as Father's Day in Thailand.
According to tradition, on this day, locals wear yellow clothes and participate in the ceremony of offerings to Buddhist monks.
In the morning, they should distribute donations to those in need, and during the day they should clean their house and the homes of their relatives, clean the coastline and water channels. The townspeople also help animals in shelters.
With the onset of evening, the ceremony of honoring King Rama IX begins on the streets of large cities. The participants in the procession line up in front of the portrait of the ruler, which is installed in the central square. Everyone reads prayers with a candle in their hands.
After the main part is over, and each of the participants congratulated the King, all those gathered begin to sing two songs. The first people dedicate to their King. People thank him in it for the happiness that they have found under his rule, and wish His Majesty the fulfillment of all desires. The second song is dedicated to the King and Queen, during its performance; everyone is holding burning candles in their hands. When completed, the people start shouting "Soang pra ja roen" ("Long live the King") and set off fireworks.
