Logic of Sustainability: From Water Efficiency to Energy Efficiency

In our previous article, we shared the principles of conscious water consumption at Astana Tower — a systematic approach that helps reduce resource use and minimize environmental impact. But our commitment to sustainability goes beyond just water.

🔋 Energy efficiency is another key direction in our environmental strategy. As a major business center welcoming hundreds of employees and visitors daily, we place a strong emphasis on the rational use of electricity, recognizing that every kilowatt affects both operating costs and the building’s ecological footprint.

Energy as a Responsibility

Astana Tower consistently implements sustainable building management practices aligned with the international BREEAM certification system. We are proud to have achieved the Excellent rating last year in both building management and technical performance categories.

Yet, for us, this is more than just a certificate — it's a guiding principle in our daily operations. In 2024, as part of the certification process, we developed a strategy to minimize operational energy consumption and related carbon emissions. The goal is not only to meet standards but to increase awareness among tenants and facility managers.

📍 The strategy is based on the following principles:

  • regular monitoring and comparison of energy use with target benchmarks;

  • transparent reporting and distribution of data among all building users;

  • encouraging responsible consumption through awareness and engagement.

🔎 According to BREEAM guidelines, to receive 3 credits, the building must:

  • collect and analyze energy consumption data;

  • compare results against established performance targets;

  • provide a clear report for all occupants.

To achieve the maximum 4 credits, the report must also be made publicly available — including publication on the official website as part of our commitment to transparency.

2025 Energy Consumption Overview

In 2025, the following consumption and reimbursement indicators were recorded (based on a tariff of 36.44 KZT/kWh including VAT):

Consumption may vary depending on several factors, such as:

  • number of employees in the office;

  • types and number of electronic devices in use;

  • presence of server rooms or high-load equipment;

  • seasonal conditions (e.g., additional heating during winter).

Sustainability in Every Detail

Our mission is not only to remain a modern and commercially attractive business center, but also to set an example of responsible consumption in the industry. We believe that true sustainability starts with daily decisions — from faucet choices to the approach to energy use.

Astana Tower is more than just a workplace — it’s a contribution to a more conscious and eco-friendly
